Meet the Panel. Last week's panel discussion was moderated by our own Chief People Operations Officer, Nancy Johnson (LinkedIn).

  • Hilary Doe, Michigan's first-ever Chief Growth Officer (LinkedIn)
  • Jon Brickner, Manager, Global Employee Experience at Steelcase (LinkedIn)
  • Beth Kelly, President and Visionary here at HR Collaborative (LinkedIn)

What is a Chief Growth Officer? Hilary is not only Michigan's first Chief Growth Officer but also the first any state has named in the country. Her task at hand is two-fold (4:12):

  • Structural policy reform that will make our communities even better places to live and work AND
  • Getting the word out to the world why Michigan isn't just a great place to visit but a great place to call home.

Flexible and Fluid. Today's world of work is changing almost on a daily basis. To keep up, organizations and workers alike will need to think outside of the job description box and be agile enough to plug in and plug out skills and abilities when and where they're needed. (19:41)

Rhythms, Rituals, and Rites of Passage. The pandemic ushered in an unparalleled era of worker autonomy. As many organizations struggle to reunify their workforce, a focus on creating shared symbolic moments can help connect even fully distributed teams. (37:50)

Growing Michigan: Make Your Voice Heard

Hilary is not working alone. She is part of the Growing Michigan Together Council, which was established to advise the governor on policies and initiatives.

And they need your feedback!

Hilary and the Council are currently on a month-long public engagement tour to get feedback from Michigan residents on how to make our state better.

Consider sharing your ideas by taking the Growing Michigan Together Survey.
