In this week's newsletter, we're looking at how to score easy engagement points, salary stagnation, and Boomerang Boomers.
What Caught Our Eye This Week
Missed layup. In a recent survey, 2/3 of U.S. workers said they were actively tuning into March Madness. But 1/4 also said their bosses forbid any activities related to it at work — a missed opportunity for easy employee engagement points. (HR Dive)
Teams that play together stay together. Speaking of easy engagement points, small shared workplace rituals — even seemingly silly ones — not only have a significant impact on team bonding but also on a sense of purpose at work. (HBS)
Better check-ins. A simple check-in can go a long way in improving morale. With a dash of strategy, they can drive growth, retention, and long-term success. Check out these seven tips to maximize the ROI whenever you touch base. (Create Cultivate)
Inflation stagnantion. More than 40% of companies say workers have asked for higher pay to offset inflation, yet less than 25% say they're making changes because of it. Nearly 50% say they don't factor inflation into salary at all. (Forbes)
Boomer boomerang. The early days of COVID saw a wave of early retirees. Today, many are jumping back into the workforce. Organizations long trained to focus on the next generation can't afford to miss out on this returning one. (Korn Ferry)
