In a recent survey, 2 in 5 small business owners said they'd fire anyone reluctant to return on-site. Why? Many of them said remote work was a no-go for staff because they themselves felt less productive at home. (Digital)   "As a CEO, this is the time to consider how your experience may differ from that of your team...The future of work is more about communication and compassion, rather than rigidly dictating where and how people do their jobs." A pertinent op-ed for the 2 in 5 small business owners above. (Fast Company)   Turning to TikTok. Looks like Elle's Harvard video essay was ahead of its time. In a bid to recruit young workers, companies like Chipotle, Target, and Shopify are piloting the social platform/dance-meme generator's video-resume tools. (HRE)   Gen IRL. Unlike their older colleagues, most Gen Zers would prefer to be in the office at least some of the time. And a whopping 40% would prefer to be in all the time. Driving those stats are dual desires for community and mentorship. (Axios)   Pay reset. Achieving pay equity post-pandemic is going to be a complicated matter. Many new hires are being paid significantly above market rates right now, while base pay and bonuses for current employees have stagnated.
